Presentation slides for English Discipline OER Needs Assessment
List of resources for English Discipline OER Needs Assessment
There are a plethora of OER textbooks for College Composition and a growing number for Argumentative Writing and Critical Thinking and for Argumentative Writing and Critical Thinking Through Literature. What gaps do we see in the materials they provide? What do commercial textbooks and digital materials offer that OER texts still lack? How can OER be improved in terms of diverse representation, writing quality, pedagogical approach, visual format, accessibility, integration with Canvas, and availability of ancillary materials such as exercises, quizzes, and essay assignments? We will discuss our priorities as educators as we seek the OER textbooks of our dreams. This conversation will build on last semester’s recorded webinars on OER and English and OER for English and Literature as well as the assessment of the state of our discipline outlined in OERI’s Open Educational Resources and English collection. If you would like to help coordinate the discussion, please contact Anna Mills.
